Default Removing 2004 Visor Decals - Duct tape does work

Just thought I would let people know that I tried the hair dryer with duct tape removal process for the left over adhesive on my visors and it worked great. Just heated the glue on the visor for a few minutes on medium heat, then put the duct tape over and rubbed it on hard, peal away and glue is gone. It took a few attempts on each spot, but there is no evidence of the white glue, and the fabric looks just like the rest of the visor. To think I have been looking at that glue for 5 years!

Thanks to whoever tried this and posted it !

when you say "rubbed it on hard" do you mean you rubbed back-and-forth or did you press hard on the tape to get it to stick as much as possible before removing the tape ?

got the same issue on light grey visors in wife's DD

I layed the tape on evenly then rubbed my finger back and forth on the tape as hard as I could. Once I pulled it up, I would then just stick my finger on the back of the tape and push in small spots that did not come up. Once the visor cools, you need to reheat and go at it again. The adhesive is heat activated, almost like hotmelt, but 10000 times stickier and a PITA

When I peeled mine off it didn't leave any residue. I guess I was lucky. Glad you were able to get yours off.

Yes, you can take the labels off the visor. Some come off easier than others, but with a little patience you can do it.

If you apply heat to the decal before pealing, it removes more of the adhesive residue i.e. less work with the duct tape later. I did mine in the summer after the car cooked all day in a parking lot, they must have been between 130-150 degrees, as it was 105 out the day I did it.

Since you have a 2002, they will probably come off easy. The late 2003 and all 2004 cars had a different adhesive which was stronger than anything I have seen.

Here are some before and after pictures. When I did the drivers side today it was not as easy, I found heating the adhesive and a clean wash cloth, then rubbing the adhesive off with the wash cloth helped in addition to the tape.

Does removing the labels invalidate the warranty?

I used a combo of duct tape and the dry wash cloth. I would heat, then apply tape, remove tape, heat, wipe with cloth. The final step I heated the wash cloth really hot with the hair dryer then wiped. It really did the trick ( had to wear gloves)

I just took off one, I have a black car. Is it possible for that to be it? There's no residue, just a slight 'shadow'.

If you don't have a 2004 it is very possible. If it is a 2004 it's a miracle!
