I'm new to the forum and want to thank everyone for there help this forum has helped me alot I have had my 99 corvette for about a year now and last winter I didn't have to drive it much but this winter it looks like it's going to be driven alot I live in Arkansas so Roads don't get to bad but it does get cold and I was just wondering if you guys had any useful tips for driving a 99 corvette convertible with automatic transmission everyday in the cold to maybe prevent any damage to engine or anything like that because like I said I have got to drive it any tips or tricks would be great thanks alot guys
According to the tire companies the summer high performance tires should not be used below 40 F as they start to lose traction. If they are on your car you could consider buying all season radials. Other than making sure you have good antifreeze in the car and good windshield wipers you should be good. I drive mine year round here in the Seattle area.
I drove the first 3 years during winter months in the NE with GY run-flat summer tires. Just be aware of the temp and don't do anything stupid. The tires don't disolve they are just harder so cornering limits and stopping distances are probably worse. After they warm up they didn't seem all that different.
Now I'm on Michelin AS run-flats. This should be your next move. They improve the entire car.
I would suggest a couple of coats of rain-x or quality paste wax on the windshield at all times. You will probably get some freezing rain and/or light snow and a polished windshield makes the new wiper blades work a lot better. Good luck with your Corvette this winter.

I've read too many stories of the car getting away from people in the cold when the tires are more like rocks than rubber.
Thanks I have summer tires on it atm but will be looking into some all season if they give me any problems we got our first little bit of snow in little rock yesterday but it didnt stick to the roadways I was able to get around ok
