It's the first week of December, the weather's gotten colder, snow is in the forecast, and it looks like "Corvette Season" is over for another year.
Spent yesterday afternoon taking off the BBS wheels and Michelins, and putting the OE wheels and worn out Goodyears back on the car, and since I like to start the car 2-3 times during the winter to circulate the oil, water, and cycle the A/C a little, I put some really light oil in the engine, so the oil pressure comes up quickly. Gave it a quick shot of "detailer" and Lexol for the seats, and the cover went on for the winter....
Why do you swap out your wheels if your car just sits there? And as far as starting it goes, if you start it without even running it and getting it really warmed up, it just does more harm than good IMO.

not sure about the op but i swap my wheels out for two reasons
1. they are uncoated aluminum and they tarnish/degrade quickly if not actively maintained. i give them a REAL good winter cleaning and polish and set them in my basement for the winter
2. to avoid flat spots on my tires which my invos get after just sitting for a few weeks. let alone 3 months.
Just like the first Robin in the spring, I saw the first PennDot salt truck last night. This even though there wasn't even ice on my sidewalk?
We've only had a trace of snow, but they've already put down salt. I was just a few miles south of the Wisconsin border yesterday and couldn't believe the amount of salt on the roads.
Just ran in to the local NAPA and it's in piles at all the intersections. Thing is no one wants to find a slippy spot anywhere these days despite where they live. I was sliding a go-cart around on red dog roads at 12yo so it doesn't scare me so much.
I'm one of those nut jobs that , in my younger days, would actually go out and ride around when the roads got bad. Doing donuts in the snow covered Hill's Dept Store parking lot on a Sunday evening was always good for a laugh. That was with my 65 GTO.... ahhhh them were the days.

I've read a number of threads, over the years, about people who store their cars, never start them, then wonder why valve stem seals, valve cover gaskets, and front and rear crank seals dry up, and then leak oil...on low mileage cars. I also turn the defroster on, while it's running, so the A/C cycles, and the seals in that system don't dry up.
I don't want to store a car for 3, possibly 4 months, on good tires, if I can help it. I have the extra wheels and tires, so it's "cheap insurance"...

Ain't THATthe truth!!
Where in "upstate NY" are you located?
I think starting the car once in awhile AND letting it sit are both bad for the car. These cars are meant to be driven, and both techniques have their goods and bads...
Starting it once in awhile...
Lubricates moving parts and seals, moves stale air out of the cabin... but doesn't burn moisture and acids in the engine, oil, coolant and exhaust.
Letting the car sit...
Doesn't build up moisture in the fluids, engine and exhaust. But moving parts and seals don't get lubricated.
Which is better? Neither. Best thing to do is take the car out once in awhile and drive it for a good 20-30 minutes. But is anyone going to experience any consequences from starting the car or letting it sit through the winter? Probably not!
To the OP: Nice to have the car out for this long, definitely spoiled this fall. Lets hope for a mild winter!
Snow today, salt on the roads-the fun is over for 2011. My last ride was Sunday. Battery tender plugged in, tires pumped up to 36psi, exhaust tips plugged, drier sheets in place, mouse traps set, Stabil in tank, new anti-freeze in system. Go to sleep my beauty, go to sleep.

Mine is not too far behind yours in terms of going in hibernation. Got about 3/4" of snow two days ago and calling for a bit more tonight. No cinders or salt on the road yet, but it's only a matter of time.

Just wondering, do Corvettes melt in salt?
Now I don't have to drive in the snow, but mine never hibernates for the winter. If it's a nice day I'll take it out. It is a car, for goodness sakes!
