Default quest.

Can anyone tell me what particular C5's came with red fuel rail covers, or was there any rhyme or reason?

The Corvette Z06 came with the red FRC. All others had black.

Ok, well that just adds to my suspicions because mine are red. Just another surprise for me, but I will check the engine as soon as I get home. Sure would be nice if it turns out to be an LS6, but hard to explain since the instr. gauge cluster and several other tell-tail items plainly show otherwise. Thanks J

A lot of people put red FRC on the LS1 to have a different look, There are a lot of members on here with a LS1 with red covers, I ran the red covers when I first bought my car, Now they are custom painted.

I have Red Z06 FRC's on my LS1. Very easy and common swap to add a little color under the hood.

A bunch of regular C5's have red fuel rail covers on them and it's a direct fit so really it proves nothing.

Yeah, I know it proves nothing since they can be popped on in 7 seconds. Im just compiling evidence on my particular trainwreck. I am running it to a buddies shop at 4 just to get the hp from dyno. Nice to know people !! Im aware it's highly unlikely to be anything other than the LS1.

Yeah beside the fuel rail covers,,a common swap is the actual intake itself.this has been done to a lot of LS1's as a simple and affordable performance step.Modest gain,,but not expensive,so it is not uncommon to see an LS6 intake on an LS1.

Keep in mind all later LS1 (2001-2004) came from the factory with the LS6 intake.

A mod that at least used to be popular was to put a set of the Z06 fuel rail covers on verts and coupes. Direct fit (except for the 97-98 cars and looked better than the black ones IMO.
