Thinking of supercharging my 2000 c5. car is basically stock except for k&n intake and borla catback exhaust. it is an auto with 60k on the clock.what do you think and what type of system would work best
I supercharged my 97 when I had it with a NOVI system from ECS and was installed and tuned by Nick Steffens here locally.
I loved the setup and it was a blast to drive. The tune was conservative so the engine and drivetrain were safe.
Now that I have my 2002, I am a bit older and not into speed as much.
So far I have resisted the tempations of doing this one.
But if you want speed one could argue that SC is the best bang for the buck ! It will become a totally different car, that's for sure.

YES!
Dollar for Dollar it is the best money spent for the results -
Your tranny and supporting mods will be fine - the tuner will dial in you A4 as well to work well with the Supercharger
Go to A&A Corvette and buy one of their kits and slap it on have it tuned and you will have a safe 550+ RWHP

As long as the engine is mechanically sound, go for it. A Magnuson (requires new hood too), or something like an A&A, ProCharger, etc. would make a world of difference in the car.
Unless you plan on road racing it, GO FOR IT!!!!!!. Doesn't affect your gas mileage and the acceleration rush is awesome. With a good tune motor will be ok. I miss mine, even though I am 500+rwhp na, it is a lot more work and $$s. Plenty of reputable installers around. Good luck .
I would stay away. Mine is supercharged and I'm having major issues with the rear tires.

Have had an ECS Procharger on the car since May 2005. Still putting down 523 RWHP and bringing big smiles to my mug each time I get in the car. Best mod and most productive bucks I've spent on the ride.

They will point you in the right direction, even if it isnt with their business. Just ask questions, tons of them.
waddisme, noobish question, but why do you say that? Heat?
Heat sink, belt slip, belt shredding on and on. It can be done but there is a ton of work involved in keeping heat down and keeping motor together. Mine melted #5 and #7 pistons at VIR. I was at Daytona last weekend and a guy was there in a 800 hp C6Z06 with Vortec and 8 rib belt. Belt shredded and had to be repl along with some wires that got cut by belt. Still didn't run right after alll was repaired. My na motor is less hp, but it has more down low where you need it on a road course. For street and 1/4 mi, sc is the way to go. For road racing and pure grunt - na. Here is what mine sounds like at Charlotte Motor Speedway at 150+:
