Default Which Axle Fluid Do I Use??

I want to stick with the GM stuff.
Which is the correct fluid...
75W90 or 75W90LS?
I think the LS is for C6's but I'm not sure.

If you want to stick with the gm fluid, just go to the dealer and request the correct fluid for your vette. Personally I like the amsoil but to each his own.

If it says LS on it, its for limited slip and you don`t need to add the additive.

The LS was developed for the C6 to cure the diff chatter problems they had with the C6 diff, but it is backwards compatible for the C5.

An aftermarket alternative (no extra modifier needed) and what I've been using in mine at the track since 04 (no failures):
AMSOIL Severe Gear Extreme Pressure Synthetic 75w90 (Product Code SVGQT)

Probably a good time to change the trans fluid too if you haven't done that in a while. I typically do the diff and trans at the same time...makes service intervals easy to remember.

Just hope it doesn't turn out to be "backwards compatible" like the Dexron VI to Dexron III ....then 2 yrs later the addendum...."EXCEPT in manual transmissions"!http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...ilies/ack2.gif

Good question, but no. The Dexron LS has been out for years now - you should be fine with this fluid. It has the same viscosity but different friction properties than the older version (both are 75w90s). In the case of Dexron III and VI, GM dropped the viscosity of the VI by about 40% - totally different behavior of the fluids. They almost immediately backed off on their recommendation that the VI was backwards compatible for manual trannies.
