Default adding horsepower

Does anyone know how much horsepower can be gained by adding borla exhaust system and K&N air filter. I'm wondering how to add horsepower at a small cost. By the way I have a 2000 corvette coupe. Thanks for your imput.

You would probably get more hp from a good tune, and spend about the same.

Honestly, and catback exhaust and any air filter will not add HP or TQ by themselves that you would or could notice. Buy a good set of long tube headers, Dynatech, LG, American Racing, etc.,,,and a dyno tune for a real increase but don't expect much more than 20 HP and 20 TQ.

After the headers a cold air intake and higher flowing exhaust will get some gains with no immediate need for a retune!

A dyno is a machine that measures power output of a vehicle and allows you to run through the gears without going anywhere. This allows for a controlled environment where someone can modify the different parameters of your car.

Please you check out the tuner befor taking your car to one. Can do more bad than good if he really dont know what he is really doing on your tune. Robert

I have no plans to do this, just didn't really know what it was.
Thanks.

Good advice. Good tuners have lots of local fans,,,bad ones are known locally as well. Ask around!

Just add a few sweet racing stickers. That'll add a good 40-50 RWHP.

HAHA.... I was just kidding of course. If you're thinking headers, consider a camshaft as well. Of course this would mean you should at least have a flash tune done. Or save up some more money and do heads while you're ripping stuff apart. In my experience until you start spending major bucks you won't see major numbers. But it sure is fun to build a car! Enjoy modding your car whatever route you choose!

If you are interested I am selling my AFE air intake system for $120. I paid $259 and I m only selling because I went FI. I got 15 RWHP on the dyno from it or I have a K&N for $30.

More noise is what most owners (not necessarily to be confused with enthusiasts) equate to more horsepower, anyway. Make it as noisy and obnoxious as possible and you've got the fastest car on the highway.

Ask any import owner.
