This guy's car was stolen and it looks like the crooks stole damn near everything under the hood. I can only imagine the frustration this guy is going through. I don't know this guy but I was thinking that if some folks on the forum had some parts that they didn't mind parting with we might be able to help him out quite a bit. Unfortunately I don't have many engine parts lying around but I thought if we had a bunch of folks looking in their garages we might be able to lessen the pain of having to find everything and paying retail costs for it.
Again, I don't know this guy at all I just thought since this forum has helped me learn so much about these cars that as a group we might be able to really help this guy out.
You may be right on the insurance side of things; however he's still more than likely to have a deductible.
I think it'd still be nice to help this guy out if we can. There's nothing quite like getting screwed over. It sucks. But it helps if folks are willing to help out a bit.
His insurance probably deemed his car "totaled" and he's trying to replace the stolen parts on his own. It could also be bait to get info on a newly acquired engine and wheels. JMO
I posted on his thread the name of the person that can help him.
a Mexican assassin? (thats not being racist. it just implies he can go back across the border and not get arrested, and it seems unlikely to find a Canadian assassin. maybe that last part was a little racist. sorry Canada.)
i have some stock parts if he wants them. i just havent thrown them away, and ive NEVER seen them sell - air bridge, exhaust, etc. not sure if that'd help, but scam or not its parts ill never use/want.
Would'nt you assume he has insurance to cover most of these expenses? He does not say in his post?
Then of course you know what assuming gets you!
If they are aftermarket parts and not listed then insurance only pays for standard factory items and often on custom parts and adds will not give full value so he could be out of pocket it not an agreed value policy
