Default New intake setup ?Thoughts?

Well I had to take my Vararam out today the lid was cracked and the seals inside the lid were shot and the filter was not sealing properly, wasn't to bad getting it out once I gave up trying to get it out around the fog lights and just took them out but after I removed the intake I noticed there was more sand and dirt up in the intake than I wanted to see the filter was really not sealing good at all. It was the older version very cheap and flimsy I dont know how much better the new ones are but I didn't have the money to get another one so I went with this dual cone intake I purchased online from the corvetteguys and I scraped the cheapo filters for some k&ns and hooked it up to the vararam power duct I already had. The setup looks good I just plan to leave the fog light area open and add some screens but I also have some open fog bezels idk which way I will go but I just hope I dont loose to much performance with this intake over the vararam I would like to see if anyone else has gone to other intakes after the vararam

I can't speak for the old units as they were before my time but the new ones fit great. I've been running one for a few years now.

You probably won't see much (improvement) from the dual cone I'm afraid.

I no I wont see any improvement I thinking more about I might lose performance if the vararam is so good I dont really have anything to compare it to the intake was installed on the car when I got it and I had never changed it through out the rest of my mods

I ran the BPP Vortex for a long time. Nice CAI setup and well made. I now run a custom 4 inch downtube setup but that required dropping the radiator and some other work Not worth it unless you need it - I did.

I dont see how a black wing will be any better than what I have I think with the dual filters out towards the sides more they are closer to the incoming air paths from the bumper and with the k&n filters its just as good as the slp filter. This is kind of a hybrid the way I have it setup its the cheap ebay bottom design but I have good filters on it and hooked to a vararam power duct.

Got the install done today, it was a pain getting that Vararam out and getting the new fog bezels in but everything fits and looks much cleaner now I took the car out for the test drive just drove normal for the first few miles and then got up on the interstate did a few partial throttle pulls and then got on some back roads to get on it hard. But the difference was instantly noticed, the car used to buck down at low rpm and also the rpms would drop really low and almost stall if I let out and just rolled up to a stop in neutral if I was doing like 30-40mph. After checking around many people with the Vararam had this same issue but mostly with ones running an upgraded unscreened m.a.f like mine. What is claiming to cause the issues is that the air is still being forced past the m.a.f while at low rpm or at idle when rolling fooling it to think you are on the gas and then fuel is added which causes the bucking and stalling. Needless to say the car runs like a brand new car now all the previous symptoms are gone and I can not tell any performance difference other than that I gained from this and for sure just after one trip my gas mileage went up almost 5mpg I was very surprised that this would have such and effect and I am very happy I switched it out.
