advise, My car is on jacks for the winter, so thought I would clean the underneth, so in doing so I noticed a black spot on the heat shield driver side where the H pipe meets up with the muffler pipe, I cleand it off and noticed a slight crack on the weld, question is can this be welded without taking the H pipe off. thanks in advance. Dont know how high your car is off the ground but that could be a PITA you may want to take it to an exhuast shop and have them do it.(or is that what you are talking about doing) should not be to expensive.

Had the same problem except that the entire weld cracked and broke. Took it to a local muffler shop and they welded it back for $20. Took all of 10 minutes to fix.

I would think that as long as you can see where the crack begins and ends a good welder could fix it for you. They just need to keep the heat away from the underside surface of the car.
