Hey guys, I have a stock shifter w/ an mgw *** (dont know the name of the *** longer and about 1-1/4'' dia) came that way when i bought the car.
Quest. looked on the mgw site and they say to replace the shifter box to a rubber isolated one, to do this you have to buy the c6 shifter as well. with that should i just buy the c6 *** and use the c6 shifter or should i go ahead and buy the mgw shifter , i already have the *** for it.
money is not and issue but i guess what i am asking is the mgw that much better of a shifter over the c6 shifter(will do the anti-venom mod as well)
also i do not race or really even power shift the car but a 3k miles a year i do my share of spirited driving and hate the stock notchy feel i have right now

This is the shifter **** I have with my MGW. Installed over 3 years ago. Have not used or changed the shifter box, this set up works fine on my car with no issues.

Thanks Grim nice interior, the shifter box in the z06 has no rubber isolatoers on the shifter box, coupes and conv. do. they say it causes bad shifter vibration w/ a short throw and the non isolated boxes.
My *** is a little longer and is alum. w/ a rubber grip around it.
Depends on what you want..... The C6 Shifter is basicly like the stock C5 shifter but with a different ****. The MGW shifter is a true Short Throw Shifter - Solid and Precise.

Thanks you,I dont like the c5 shifter so im not gaining anything by going to the c6, I love the mgw *** i have just hate the shifter , i thought the c6 was a better shifter thats all.

I believe some would argue in difference that the C6 Z06 shifter is basically a stock C5 shifter.

I agree. I had an MGW and loved it, but it was just a bit too stiff for my liking. I switched to a shortened c6z shifter and think it's perfect. Not as notchy and precise as the MGW, but still an upgrade from the stocker. Can't go wrong either way tho!

i tried several different shifters before settling on the mgw. you will never miss a 2-3 shift again, lol. it is very precise and you may find it a bit "stiff" compared to thr stock stuff. i didn't change the box either, just the shifter mechanism itself.

Went from stock to the Hurst and it reminded me of when I was in my 20's it lasted about three months, in my opinion not better than stock. Went to the MGW and initially was not a big fan even though the throw was shorter. After about 2500 miles felt it was far superior to either the stock or Hurst.
