Default 2000 differential fluid change

seems to me I remember that the Vette requires a special posi-traction fluid...is this right?? what weight or special requirements do I need to look for, and can it be purchased @ AZ?? (its $35/qt @ GM)

I changed mine when I got the car recently and I saw Pep Boys had the 4 oz bottle of GM positraction fluid on the shelf, like $8 or so I think. It said on it that it met the GM spec, I cant recall what the long part number was. I used that along with 2 qts of Mobil 1 75/W90 gear oil and its been working fine. I didnt check AZ but they probably carry it as well. They have a better selection of oil than most places.

Go to any auto parts store and get two quarts of Mobile 1 75w-90 with LS (indicating that the limited slip lube is already added), drain the diff and add the new fluid until in runs out of the bottom of the fill hole. Put the fill plug back in and you are good to go. You will need to get a plastic pump to get the fluid out of the container and in into the diff. These are approx $2 at the parts store. Go for it!!! The diff holds approx 1.75 qts of fluid so, you will have some left over. Note also that the car must be on a level surface for the fluid level in the diff to be correct. IIRC the Mobile 1 is less than $10 per qt.
