Mine was ordered with both tops according to the option codes, but when I bought it used, it only came with the clear top. The solid top dissapeared at some point in this car's life.
The painted top was standard, but you could order a C5 with just the blue tint top at an additional cost or you could order it with both tops. Does not make sense to be that if the car came standard with the painted top, why there was an option to order it with both at one price and the blue tint at an lesser price. In '97 the tinted top option was RPO CC3 @ $650.00 and the duel tops were C2L @ $950.00. Seems like Chevrolet pulled a fast one. That price remained until the 2000 model and then the duel package went up to $1,100.00 In '02 the package increased again to $1,200.00 and the tinted top increased to $750.00.
The Blue Tint is what they call it in the Corvette Black Book. I have also seen it listed simply as transparent. Not sure if there is anybody doing aftermarket on the tops or not, but with a lot of C5 drivers being a member of the FRC there just might be an aftermarket supplier.
Mine is definitely smoked. And not aftermarket tint
The factory clear top is thin, you can feel that when you tap on it. It also had a blueish tint to it.
If you have a smoke top, then you probably have an aftermarket top. there are few companies out there that sell a clear aftermarket top that uses the original frame but a smoke top to replace a faded or cracked original top they may have taken in on a trade.
One way to find out is by looking at the gutter at both ends, if it's metal then it's original. If it's rubber, then it's aftermarket.
Be it smoked or blue tint. I would like to know about how GM charged a special option fee for both tops. It stands to reason that if you ordered a new C5 coupe, it has to come with a top. It would seem to me that if you also wanted the tinted top, that should be all that you needed to pay extra for. The painted top should have been included in the original price. So how is it that you paid a higher price for the option that gave you both tops?

Maybe because they had to take the time to align both tops to the specific car. or maybe GM was double dipping and taking advantage of the buyers that wanted that option. Corvette TAX.

Funny. Same with mine. Lists both tops in options, but I only got the clear top.
When I bought my 2000, which was on consignment at a Chevy dealership, the window sticker listed dual tops. The top on the car was the blue tinted one. In my excitement of purchasing the car, I forgot about the "2nd" top until I was about to drive it off the lot. The sales mgr said he would look into it. Next day he calls and informs me that there is no 2nd top. I said it was listed on the window sticker which I have in my possession. He said that the person who printed the sticker made an error...huh? I said my attorney may think otherwise. Half hour later he calls and says he spoke to the previous owners wife and she said there is another solid color top after all and I can come in to pick it up after her husband comes back from a trip in a couple of days. I pick up the matching top and realize why they tried to hide it, it had a small crack on the surface where it locks down in the back. When I complained to the sales mgr, his response was "well the car was sold as is". Tried to negotiate with him to repair it at least, even split the cost, but he refused. Dealerships!
I love the clear top during the fall and spring months, but replace it with the solid one during the summer.
In the "Options installed by Manufacturer" side of my window sticker (copy), first listing is Dual Removable Roof Panels.....$950.00. I am the second owner and when I purchased the car it came with both tops. I use the solid one in summer, and the "transparent" one in spring and fall. Does not go out in winter time!I like the looks of both.

Mine off the new show room floor had two tops. By the time I
bought it used I was down to one colored top. Now I have a
2nd top----carbon fiber. Not many C-5 around with a carbon
fiber top.
