What I did was to wash well with a detergent soap, sand to your desired smoothness, wash with soap, then use a good plastic adhesion promoter, then prime and spray. I used paint/primer from these guys -www.automotivetouchup.com. Will match your color code perfectly, not high temp but should not need it for your plastic engine parts. Others on here have used paints from auto parts and big box. Important step is the preperation, want to be sure to get all the oils off the pieces even new pieces have some on them. This is my wife's car. I just used standard car paint on the painted parts. Same as used on the interior parts and the exterior.
Most important is good primer and prep, prep, prep....
Added some pinstriping to a few pieces.
