Considering an upgrade on my stock LS1 to Z06 243 heads. I'm wondering about the value versus cost of this particular upgrade. I haven't given a cam change any consideration at this point. Are 243 Z06 heads worth say $500.00 or would the money be better spent towards aftermarket heads? I am really just in the process of gathering parts that I want to use. The car is my drive it when I can pleasure vehicle and I would like to have around 450 rwhp when it's all said and done which I know will require other parts but heads are on my mind right now.
Then you will need aftermarket heads and Cam in order to achieve the 450 RWHP you want + headers, hiflow cats, xpipe, dyno tune etc.
The other option is a Supercharger and it will feel and drive like stock but have 500+ RWHP on a safe tune! A simple effective BOLT ON!
Thanks,Matt
Matt, I know everything you listed is true but I don't know when I would be able to scrape together the cash for a supercharger, plus I like to "tinker" with my cars. Would the 243 heads be benificial to a supercharger upgrade down the road?

Yes! the 243's would.
But to use the 243's without getting them opened up and massaged to go with a real big nasty cam, the 450 is gonna be real hard to achieve.

I already had headers, CAI etc when I did my heads & cam. I used Patriot Stage 2 heads with the 59cc chambers and a custom ground cam from AFR. Was able to get a little over 430 with a conservative tune.
