If you like the car. Really think you want to own it... do not hesitate to make the dealer an offer you can live with. Leave room to negotiate. If you need to finance a few grand, don't let that get in the way of the right car at the right price. Check under those seat cover first!

If you need some one to check the car out, try Mid Cities Classics in Hurst.

For the record there were 4,085 SE coupes produced for 2003. I'm going to go check it out tomorrow since I am playing hooky from work to watch the National Championship game
If it is as clean as it appears and they come down to 19-19.5k I will bring it home. That color combo keeps calling my name.

I guess you'll never understand -

Go and get a 2003 Z06 Anniversary Edition of the C5 Z06 -

Add up all the non Anniversary C5's and they will never amount to the small amount, in comparison, of the 2003 Anniversary Year - Understand now!

It is the Anniversary edition - the Corvette came out in 1953 thus the 2003 is its Anniversary (As well as previous Anniversary models, C4, C3 etc) and in 2013 there will be another Anniversary Corvette - be it either a C6 still or a new C7 - it "WILL" be a Anniversary Edition and it will hold more value - Plain and simple!

Thanks,Matt

LMAO... Maybe you dont understand let me break it down for you because you really have no idea what you are talking about here my dear friend matt...

1. In 2003 Corvette had special badges made up for all its vettes to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Corvette thus they were all 50th Anniversary Editions... NOW!!!! 35,469 were produced IN TOTAL, Out of that 35K+

12,812 were coupes....
14,022 were verts....
8,635 were Z06's....

35,469 TOTAL!!!

NOW!!!! Out of that 35,469 There was 11,632 SPEACIAL EDITION METALLIC RED VETTES BUILT RPO 1SC

4,085 were coupes.... Which means 35% of every coupe made that year was a SPEACIAL EDITION...
7,547 were verts.... Which means 47% of every vert made for that year was a SPEACIAL EDITION...

BUILD %.....

Quicksilver Metallic - 7%
Electron Blue Metallic - 8%
Speedway White - 2%
Black - 16%
Torch Red -15%
Millenium Yellow - 11%
Spiral Gray Metallic - 9%
Anniversary Red Metallic - 33%

Hmmmmm... Now does that seem like a limitied production number to you considering it was the most produced package for that year??? lol... Hope that helps you understand, If you want more info just let me know -Phil-

It's a great looking 2-owner car -- every option, great color combo, low miles, and appears well cared for. If it's what you want, why not go for it?? I'll be surprised if the dealer doesn't accept an offer between $18000 - $19000. Had I not just bought an '02 coupe in August, I'd seriously consider it myself. As far as collector car status, who cares?? Are you buying it to drive & enjoy or put on display??

This is correct. Out of the 11,632 AEs built, only 4085 of them were coupes. That equates to about 12% of the total build for 2003 alone. Compared to all the models made from 97-04, I would say they are a rare breed. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is all Matt was trying to say.

At the end of the day, all something is worth is what someone is willing to pay.

To the OP. Good luck with your bid and stick to your guns. If it doesn't work out, there will always be another one down the road. Like you said, time is on your side.

There are alot more vettes that are more rare than this Anniversary edition. I frankly could care less since I don't have the money to put a car in storage and let it sit. Z06's speak for themselves but my personal preference is looks over horse power. I understand both view points but they mean very little since they are only opinions. I have always wanted a vette and never thought I would be in the position to get one. My time is coming and I just want to get something I will be happy with. I have always been a Nissan man but looks like two Chevy V8's will be parked in my drive way

Only 12% of the total build from 2003 were AE coupes. Not the 35% that you proclaim.

A lot of bickering going on here. I would not say that particular car is rare, but the AE package, a $5K option, would certainly make it more pricey than a regular '03. And IMO, the AE red color was absolutely beautiful and one of the best on the C5. The price might be a tad high, so I would offer maybe $19.5K and see what the dealer says. Hard to say just how well kept that car is, but it sure looks good in the pics and if in person it is very nice, I certainly wouldn't rule out paying a bit more for it.

I have my doubts that car will be a collector's item, but in the Corvette world, you never know.

If that is THE car you really want, don't let a couple grand keep it from you. If the car is close enough for you to look at it in person, do it before talking money. You will always be better off negotiating in person. With the condition the car appears to be in, I'm wondering why the cheesee seat covers. I'd look under them to see the condition of the seats. Maybe they were put on to protect the original seat skins. It does appear to be very clean. There are a lot of vettes for sale, but maybe NOT the car you really want. When I bought my car last Feb. I wanted to pay cash too, and I did. I was also looking at a car that had quite a few mods, lower miles, and 2 years newer. It was worth much more than my car, because of the mods. I have sometimes regreted not buying the other car. I do like the color better on my car, but I still wonder what if.
I haven't seen a dealer yet that didn't negotiate some on the price. The price don't seem out of line to me, at least in my nec of the woods.

:agree:The keyboard commandos are out in force tonight!! I don't understand why there can't be a legit discussion with differing opinions or interpretation of facts with out the name calling! Bottom line it IS a sharp car. In the light of total production numbers and the price premium the will command a bit more attention than others. Just like beauty,,collector status/value,at least to some extent, is in the eye of the beholder. Given enough time I'm sure a clean low mile example will obtain some collector value. Some rather pedestrian vehicles have done that with enough time and natural attrition!! Discuss,,disagree all you want,,but can't we conduct ourselves with a little class and dignity?

I have an 03 Anniv Red Special addition coupe with the $5k Anniv package.
That package includes special badging, extra targa top, magnetic shocks and mine has a special rear axle,12 disc cd chgr
No comment on the above except to tell you if you have it shipped be sure to research the magnetic ride control shock stuffers for truck shipments.
Trust me, don't make a $4k replacment mistake.
If you are going to go pick it up and drive it home , no problem.
BTW bought mine 1 yr ago for 19500 with 75k miles.
It is truly a special car.....to me anyway.

Quite the contrary.

You try the math.

4085 AE coupes built out of 35469 total 2003 models produced.

I'm not trying to bag on you. I actually somewhat agree with some, not all, of your statements. I just see some of your facts are contradicting.

I guess the vert's don't count then, If you counting just the coupes then yes its just around 12% but im talking about the 1SC package as a whole which would be 33%... Not trying to be a Dbag either just saying...
