After looking at my 130psi oil guage i decided to fix it. I bought the unit at Pep Boys for $45. Made of brass. I did the cutting method. So i made a hole under the plastic shroud under the winsheild wipers. It took me about 2 hours to do it. That 2 hour time includes me going back to Pep Boys to buy a dremel. If i had a dremel in the first place then it would of only taken me about an hour.
It sure did feel good to start her up and see normal oil psi.
I bought a knock off Dremel at Pep Boys for a whopping $21 with tax.

I have to do mine as well. Just gathering tools. I'd like to get that dremel.
I was under the impression from some of the post on this that it was easier to just pull the motor.
Anybody have the oil pressure sender show a low oil pressure condition on start up and then go to normal when slightly warm?
I'm having this problem. My oil level is fine and I have no valve train noise on start up. But gauge is showing 4-5 and then slowly climbs upward as the motor warms up.
I think I'll change sending unit and see what happens.
Good luck on that video. Impossible re-attaching the wires. Unless you have a childs hand doing it. Video says it takes only 10 minutes to do. I would pay to see that.
I tried that you tube video method on an 01, and it couldn't be done as in the video. The car I was working on had extra stuff under the cowling that had been removed from the one in the video. Even with the wobble socket and extension, the socket wouldn't go in and over the sensor. I got the plug disconnected and reconnected using a coat hanger, but not the sensor.
I have been a ASE certified Master Tech for 35 years and have tens of thousands of dollars worth of tools.I use long medical hemostats and a combo of the proper sending unit socket,1/4 inch drive extentions and adaptors with swivels or flex extentions.

I did it the same way you did. Lucky for me I had a dremel so the repair was quick. Now I have an access panel should it crap out again. Very easy repair and thats coming from someone who isnt mechanically inclined, especially when it comes to car engines. Saved about $500.00 doing it myself.
I just did mine the other day. That Youtube video makes it look sooooo easy. It wasn't easy for me at all. I ended up doing the cutout method. Mine I had practicly NO room to manavure in there. I ended up dropping my new sender down into the abyss and had a heckova time getting it back out. Took me about 3 hours including a trip to the parts store to get a long skinny clamp to retrieve it. It didn't help that is was about 30 degrees out and my hands where starting to freeze! Oh, well, it was worth it in the end.
However it gets done, it sure is nice to have a working oil gauge!!

Any tips, pics, or tutorials how to replace this damn sensor without cutting??
Replaced mine ,on a "98 coupe, in 30 miniutes, after watching that same video. Just saying, it can be done just as the video shows. I must admitt, I surprised myself by replacing the unit. Can't thank the forum members enough for all of the technical information they offer one another. Thanks Again All.
I did the intake removal thing years ago and replaced the sender with one of those relocation kits. Now if the sender fails I can just remove the fuel rail cover and do it in a couple minutes.
