Default Installing exhaust cut outs

Hi, I'm planning to install electric exhaust cut outs on my 2004 CE Convertible. What size should I order, 2.5" or 3.0"? Thanks for any help and advise.

Stock pipes in front of the cats are close to 3 in and after they are 2.5. Low profile cutouts only come in 2.5 inch oval to my knowledge. The cheapest route would probably be to get 2.5 inch round cutouts.

My DMH low-profile units are maybe my favorite mod. OEM quiet if I want, or NASTY if I desire.

Good Luck.

I love and HATE my cut-outs, love the sound they put out, but hate the continuous problems I've had with them. First the wires melted and had to be rewired, now I have one that won't open with the switch but can be done manually but closes when you close them. I too have headers, cam, corsas, and s/c, but sometimes I like to be a little louder. Your choice, I'd do it again if I new someone that installed them better than who I used. Good luck! L8R ZFLASH

I have nothing against them , but with headers they will sound way better if your into loud. Just adding them to stock exhuast
will sound like a car with a rotted out exhaust system JMO

Yea I see where you are coming from, I ran straight pipes with factory manifolds and H-pipe so I imagine it would sound pretty close to the same. It did sound much better once I put the headers on but the noise increase a lot behind the car which is why I went ahead and put the TI's on. I was just a little worried about getting pulled over for it.

i am under the impression from previous threads here on the subject, that as the cutouts age, they eventually fail to seal all the way. how bout we hear from some members who have had them installed for a bit and what their experiences have been.

I have heard the same thing, I would think that it is from carbon buildup on the butterfly valve which could potentially be fixed by cleaning them. But then again Im just speculating.

Love my DMH electric cutouts on my car. I installed them on the 90 degree bend just prior to the mufflers. Can't see them from behind the car and no drone inside. Mild to wild in 1 second!!! My favorite mod.

Same here, I too have 2.5" OTP electric oval cutouts too and they are fantastic! One of the best mods I have ever decided to do, I currently bought some longtube headers so maybe that will change my mind about the best mod but I certainly love being able to change how loud I want it when I want. DO IT you will be glad you did!

The switch that came with my DMH Low Profiles is an adjustable switch. I can have them cracked open, halfway, 3/4, fully opened, or anywhere in between. I adjust how much they are opened.
