Default Making some side skirts fit!!

Hello corvette forum i understand that side skirts arent for everybody and some of you like your vette stock, but me i like the mine a bit diffrent. So i got some tpe quarters last year because i wanted some wide wheels with fat tires. And about 6 months ago i got my ccws that have a pretty big lip on them. So now i was stuck looking for side skirts because if you see the car from a front angle i feel like to much tire is showing. So now i gotta buy side skirts and i got my eyes on the zr1 sideskirts but after seeing the price i was like whhhhaaaa???? Almost 1000, i mean i am not cheap but 1000 bucks for side skirts i think thats to much for some fiberglass. So i decided to look for some cheaper ones and came to some from c7carbon only thing is that they are for c6. So i was like maybe they will fit a c5( later found out they are way diffrent ) so i posted in the c6 section to see if they could help me with the measurments and dimensions but no luck. So after a while i decided to order the c6 side skirts and hope they fit. I odered them and guess what the didnt fit, i know cars are diffrent but i thought maybe they would fit but i was wrong. So i thought for a while, sad for another while and came up with the idea that i was going to make them fit. So i decided to cut them in 4 places to make the curve i needed for a c5.

There's at least a half dozen vendors here and elsewhere that sell C5 side skirts. They start around $300 for fiberglass. The ones you were looking at are carbon fiber, which will always be more expensive.

Good luck with your project!

Adding to watch list to see how this turns out in the end. Looks promising so far though.

Well i gotta fiber glass them still and the 1,000 was for the fiberglass ones including shipping and all that. And yes i seen all those skirts for 300 but i need the ones with a mudflap to cover the tire and protect the car from rocks picked up by the tires

Just wondering...did you happen to make note (take measurements) of where you put your cuts/removed material from the skirts, depth and width of the cuts and what brand skirts you have as the base for this? Maybe consider doing a DIY for other members that would like to borrow these skirts?

These side skirts are the ones from c7 carbon and costed 350$$. The way i did it was that first i cut the shape of the angle of the car were the skirts are going out of cardboard and after that i traced it to a peice of wood so i can have a table with the shaple/angle that i needed the side skirts to be, when the peices were cut i went out about 3 inches on each side of the cut with a small air sander and sanded. You gotta sand it kipping in mind that when you put the fiberglass to join them again the hight will be the same again so kinda make like a little decling ramp.
