Default Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction Tonight

This one is on the block tonight and at no reserve. It is not a C5, the last of the C4's, and would be the only C4 that I would consider. I just love the Red, White, and Blue color combo on this car. The Speed Network is covering it live all this week at night and all day on Friday and Saturday, 607 on Directv. Fun to watch, the only thing better would actually being there with Bill Gate's Checkbook. I think it will hammer in at $65K.

Sold.... $46k.....

How about the 79 with 3 miles. Went for 30 something thou! No way I'd pay that for a C3 no matter how new it is.

Agreed. I saw that one last night, it would be pretty cool to buy a basically brand new car from 1979. I just don't know how those people do it though. I could never buy a car and then not drive it, what am I missing???? Not much of an investment. I didn't care for the color, it was kind of a khaki/pea green color, not my style.

Plus a 79' with 3 miles has to have problems with seals, etc drying out. Not something I'd spend 30K on.

I watched a lot of this auction and it is crazy ! some cars are going for $8,9 $10.000 and then some pretty Chevelle's go for just under $50.000 and any kind of Mustang or Mopars the price goes through the roof. How does any one ever make and good buy at this economic bombshell hit ? If you spend $75.000 or $102.000on a Mustang and ever decide to sell it your not going to find anyone who's going to bid on it after you've drove it for ten years. But I guess a lot of folk out there have more money than brains ? I don't know how you get a good deal in an auction? You don't stand a chance bidding against a millionaire ?

I should have been more specific and said a late 70s C3. I saw enough of them working in a GM dealer back then.

Granted, a big block 69 would be worth it. My friend has an all original, low mile, 69 427 tri power that I would think worth a fortune at BJ. Although worth it, I wouldn't pay that. Mid 30s would buy a real nice C6 that can actually be driven.

Anyone notice that '55 Chevy roadster with all the C5 emblems splashed throughout the interior? It may have had a Corvette engine, but it wasn't a C5 Corvette engine. Just saying they got a little carried away with the C5 emblems on the interior.

Barrett-Jackson is just stupid money. I sometimes wonder how much of it is real and also how many of the bidders work for BJ to help drive the bid up. I saw a few years ago a Ford Mustang Cobra Jet Clone sell for just over $900K.
There is a guy in Florida that has a large collection of Corvette's and other GM muscle cars and he told me that he will buy his cars at Mecum but sell at Barrett-Jackson.

Ever notice the cars that sell for a steal of a deal price are usually brought by someone with a disgusted look on his face. The reason for that is because he has just bought his or his buddies car back to keep from loosing lots of money on the sale. Sometimes the people are happy and those are the ones that got a steal of a deal.
