D shaped Apsis steering wheel?
I have an 02 Z06 (C5) and am thinking of an Apsis D shaped wheel. Has anyone had any issues with this wheel, I am getting conflicting comments from various sources in Toronto Canada, stating that they use some wood mods that may compromise the integrity of the wheel, possible safety issues and so on?. It just may be that the sources want the business (or jelous), but as I am not technically inclined nor have had any mods of the like I just wanted to know if anyone has purchased this item and if there have been any issues. Thank's Ben P.S. The wheel looks sweet I hope that its all Kosher, so I can go ahead an place an order.

I am waiting on one that is carbon fiber and alcantara. I have never heard of any safety concerns with this steering wheel. The only safety concerns that I have heard of are related to the airbag cover and whether it breaks away or not.

I have an Apsis D shaped wheel in my 2002 Z. Mine is solid black leather top and bottom with perforated black leather sides. Black stitching. Very happy with mine. Seems like the wheel is thicker in the hands although the diameter is the same as stock. Leather they used is top notch. Very high quality piece. Used my stock airbag cover. Had the dealership install mine.
