New to the forum although I've had the Corvette for a few years now. Woman needs help! Is there a way to check the motor of the coolant fan assembly? The fan blade is broke and the motor won't turn on. I was hoping I could just change the fan blade wheel? and not motor.
Doubt you'll just find the fan as a spare part anywhere.
There are two fans, and they are together in a housing. To turn them on to check them, turn on your A/C at the cold setting, and they should both turn on. Never mind, I found them on fleeBay.
Ok so 3 mechanics later!??? Replaced 3 relays, 3 fuses, coolant sensor, thermostat, and the coolant fan assembly. Still gets hot........After about 30 minutes if I'm at a light or in traffic (daily)I have to turn the heat on and the temp goes down to between 195 - 200. Once i'm on hwy or steady driving temp goes down to 185???? Any advice would be appreciated...... Ive noticed when I turn the ac on both fans will come on. Are both fans suppose to cycle from high to low or just the one ac fan?
I had a problem like this on a car (not a vet)a few years ago. The problem got so bad, I had to take the radiator out and thats when I found the problem. It looked clean on the front of the radiator and on the AC coil, but between the two was a different story. It was plugged with dirt and leaves. On my 2000 vet I did not think my AC was working right, so the first thing I did was really clean the coils. I got the car up in the air enough so I could get at the radiator and really give it a good cleaning. I spent a good 15 minutes and yes,I did get wet, but It help out alot.
