I purchased a set of Apsis Splash Guards a few years ago. Something had to be done to protect the large flat arching surfactes that faced the tire treads or looked like they would get pecked to death from gravel, etc. Therefore, on day one I applied some Clear-Mask material to help protect them and it worked great. Only problem was the glossy finish always bugged me in that application.
Recently I noticed the XPEL Black Textured ARMOUR product, which I thought would look perfect for that application. I contacted Tim at XPEL (Forum Vendor) and purchased what I needed.
The material was very easy to cut out and work with and now the guards look the was I initially envisioned them. Just installed yesterday, so I do not know about longevity or resistance to road debris, but they look much better to me with this rugged treatment applied.

XPEL ARMOUR Applied to tire-side surface (you have to look close in this photo due to lighting):
A friend of mine installed a splitter and he applied the same material they use in trunk bed liners on the underside to help keep the splitter from getting scatches, chips, etc.
Why not just scuff the side facing the tires and use some spray on bed liner?
This looks better to me than the spray-on bed-liner and gives me the ability to change my mind later if I don't like it. Also less work than sanding, taping, masking spraying, etc.
