Default Your Experiences with HID's?

I recently aquired a nice se tof HID headlights from my neighbor. I got the 9006 Low beams? and the 9005 highbeams? -I can't remember which ones designate which. Anyway, I got the complete set.

I have found that the low beams are just about bright enough to drive with all the time, even on dark back roads where I would normally run bright. But, I like to flip the brights on every now and then. I drive to work really early in the morning about 15 miles down a two lane back road. The lights have been a blessing.

What I am worried about is messing up the bulbs. I've never had any experience with them. When driving I like to turn the brights on occasionally, because I swear they get so bright I can see a half mile ahead of me. I usually only pass a few cars, but it seems like since I have gotten the HIDs, every time I flip to brights I see headligths in the distance. It causes me to flip back and forth between the two, and this can be a little agravating because of the warm up time. They take about 10 seconds to reach full brightness, and I have heard turning them on and off repeatedly can cause premature failure.

I just don't want to mess them up, because they really are nice. Anybody had any experience with switching back and forth hurting them?

You need a Hi-4 harness:

This will keep your low beams on when you activate your high beams so there's no delay in warm-up time.

As far as switching, you should be fin as long as you don't flash your high beams repeatedly. HID bulbs like to be powered on and warmed up (usually for 8-10 seconds at least) Failure to do so can significantly decrease the lifespan of the bulb.
