What sucks is that we need to take a 1200 mile trip, and can't take the coupe do to "son" seventy pound dog does not fit in C5.
Leaving him home is not an option.
Of course my dog is more important than any "thing" that I own, but really would love to take the C5 on this trip.
So, now we will use the F350, or Focus, or Explorer.
Not the fun factor of the Vette.
Yeah I used to take our little 25lb dog in the hatch of the coupe but once we had an additional 50lb dog I wouldn't take the Vette unless it was just to the dog park a few miles away. The poor girl couldn't stand up without hitting her head.
When I first got the car I made the dog go in a little PetTaxi crate but eventually warmed up to letting him in the hatch with a dog gate so he wouldn't try to get in the front onto the seats.
I'm sure you will feel better having the dog in good hands and sacrafice getting to take your Vette. Enjoy your trip

Nice to not to want to leave him home, Another option is to board him, There are a lot of nice boarding places around where he will be well taken care of.
Just a thought.

That is a good idea, but since our dog was born, we have been retired and he has been by my side or by my wife's side all his life. We have had one bad experience with a local boarding place, with a dog we had many years ago...
I know this might sound crazy to some, but we would not have a good time, thinking our dog was traumatized by the separation. We never had children, so we have a very close bond to our dog and to those dogs that we have had over the past 40 years.

Glad to hear we aren't the only "crazy" people. I used to have a camper and towed the other car or bike behind depending on the trip. It was mostly so we could take my Lab with us. Sold it after he was gone andthe gas prices went up.
So now we have a retriever mix. We have had bad experiances with him in two different boarding kennels. Laurie says when we go to Watkins Glen in Sept he is going with us. She plans to follow in the Outback and I'll drive the Vette. I mentioned the gas and she said what we pay to board him will be the same. He should be fine in the cabin by himself during the day as he is at home.

It's not a dilemma for me - I would take the vehicle in which my dog can be comfortable. If taking the dog is best for all parties concerned, then you do what you have to do. When we travel - my daughter moves back in for the time we are gone to keep an eye on the house and take care of the dogs. When my daughter and her husband travel, they bring their dog over to stay with us....no boarding, no kennel cough, and no drama.
Our dogs are very important to us, they are members of our family.
