Default Michelin tire question

Looking to replace my GY RF with Michelin Sports A/S RF. I was wondering anyone here either experienced a blow out or flat and how it hold up. I had my GY RF slashed on the side by a sewer cover and held it's integrity until I was able to drive it to the dealership. I like the insurance of having RF especially on long cruises out here in the southwest.

I had numerous flats on two sets of GYRFs and if that dash had not notified me, I probably would have never known. That is also why they felt like I was riding on rocks when at the proper inflation.

I switched to Michelin A/S ZPs a few years ago and again to A/S Plus ZPs a year ago. I have only had one flat on the Michelins and it was on the front right about 3 weeks after I installed them (no flats since). I picked up some sort of cleat in a parking lot at ACE Hardware (See Photo).

With the Michelin, I did not need the dash to tell me I had a flat, it was immediately noticeable by the unresponsiveness in steering. I also had people honking at me and pointing as it was that obvious that I had lost air, but it did make it around town for a couple days flat until I could get a replacement.

With the Michelins you are also only allowed one patch, then it is new tire time. The GYRFs can have up to 3 patches per tire if it meets the criteria. GYRFs also have 4 times the rated distance of the Michelins, but if all you need a about 50 miles, the Michelins are the better choice IMO.

Default runflats

Runflats are the way to go if you live way out in the middle of the desert sorta speaking but I am not a fan of the handling. Also most runflat tires a set cost 1500.00 installed balanced and with a road hazard warranty and they last about 20,000 miles-stretching it. The Nittos I had cost about 900.00 and last about 70,000 miles. So 900.00 vs 4,500.00 and only one day at tire dealer vs 3 days, better handling too, I will stick with the non runflats and carry an air compressor and tire plugs.

You couldn't pay me to run RF's on my Corvettes... To each their own.

I've had two sets of those tires on my C5 and that are great tires. Both sets have gotten nails and were plugged & patched and were just fine for many more miles. Matter of fact I have two rear's for sale in the for sale section and one was repaired from a nail. They only have about 12K on them.
