Well, tonight some asshat in an F150 swerved into my lane on a narrow road (most likely answering their damn phone) and almost took the left side of my car off. I had no choice but to go for the curb while locking up the brakes. It was a pretty hard hit at about 15mph. Of course, he or she kept on driving and didn't even hit the brakes. I pulled over to check the damage and, much to my horror, my previously virginal blemish-free right front wheel has half the outer lip ground off. What are my options for repair or replacement. Structurally, the wheel seems sound as there is no tire damage or air loss. The loss appears cosmetic. I had just convinced myself that I was happy with the argent grey understated look and don't feel like upgrading to aftermarket rims as I dig the stock look. Input is much appreciated from those who've been there before.
Try googling "Alloy Wheel Repair". This a nationwide chain of mobile repair trucks that can come to you and refinish and repair the rim of your wheel to as good as new. I'm friendly with someone who has one of their trucks and can do great work on the spot. Everything is self contained on the truck.
Hi, most outer rim repair is fixed fairly easy I had alloy rim repair fix a wheel for me that was curbed all the way around. Came out nice for 75.00. They sand it, scuff and then paint.
You might check with forum vendor House of Wheels and see if he has one. Bob is a good guy to deal with. He carrries new and used Gm wheels. It just depends what he has in stock now. http://www.houseofwheelsonline.com/corvette_oe.php
