For the taller and larger folk in here does the C5 give you enough space so you don't feel too cramped in the drivers seat? I've only quickly sat in a few that were owned by others and didn't want to fiddle with their seat controls too much. So I don't think I got a good feel for the overall space.
I'm not a small guy - 6'1 and 285 and am wondering what others might think that have owned their car for a while. I plan on using it as the DD unless the weather is bad.
Those of you that might also own a C6, is there more or less room in there?
Okay , not trying to be an *** here but I'll be perfectly blunt.
NO, there will not be enough room. You WILL bust these seats as they are very tender. I'm 6'-1" as well but I weigh 185...and I feel I'm close to the limit, there is NO way I could imagine another 100lbs in this space. A C6 has a better seat BUT the space will still be an issue.
For A DD, a Camaro or Charger would be a better option.
My best friend is 6'4" and weights 300Lb. He has driven my targa/coupe vette, and he has said that it is a comfortable ride. He also told me he had to lower the seat all the way down, and all the way to the back. He told me if he had the option, he would definitelly buy a convertible, but that the coupe was "roomie" enough for him.
I think if you spread out 285lbs over 6'1" you will be fine. I'm only 5'8" and when I put the seat all the way back I can't push the clutch in far enough to start the car. At close to 250lbs I find myself quite comfortable in the drivers seat. I'm sure there are better seats but I have no major complaints and I have the FRC base seats. I've seen pictures of owners by their cars on this site and it looks like you would have to fold them 3 times to fit inside their C5.
Of course the real answer is to get some more seat time yourself, it's the only way you will know for sure.

Hmmm, maybe it's like those overweight chicks that "try" to fit in a size 8 pair of jeans....the one's you see frequently at Wal-Mart.
The poster stated this would be a DD, not a one time ride.
To me over 230lbs in the coupe would be like a can of biscuits ready to explode......

Wow, Thats gonna leave a mark for sure....
My son is 6'1" at 270lbs and he fits just fine when he uses my car.

. . . To me over 230lbs in the coupe would be like a can of biscuits ready to explode . . .
Ouch, that's a little harsh
I've been driving the car since new (May 2000) and I have unfortunately been hovering around the 290 mark for much of that time (I am also 6' 1") and I have zero complaints as to the roominess of the C5, at least for the driver position. I have no problem with getting in or out and I think it feels great when I'm driving.
I will say the two or three times I've ridden in the passenger seat, getting in and out of there seems a little unnatural but I think that's because I'm so used to the driver's side egress proceedure.

I know there is no substitute for seat time to really make a decision. Unfortunately I don't have any friends driving a C5 coupe or Z that I can hop into for a while. So was trying to get a general feel what you all think since you all have much more experience than I do.
I've seen the bigger guys standing next to their cars and that made me wonder a bit. They seem roomy enough inside. I know it isn't going to be like a large car, but then you don't exactly drive them to try and get the larger car feel.
I'm happy to see that there are some guys out there built more like me that are happy with the fit. I'm built more linebackerish, so a loss of weight ain't making my shoulders or legs smaller.
6'2" 260 and I fit fine. The seat belt is a bit of a challenge (the latch is very low near the seat) but belt extenders are available if you feel the need. Like others have said, get more seat time and decide for yourself.

6'6 250 with a 33 inch waste a no problem fitting in the car. However i do drive an automatic simply because i could not "fit" in a manual car, not enough room to work a clutch Just tried to sit in my dads 68 vette and got stuck in it.....had to have him open the door for me.....
This is an American sports car. It's built for Americans. That said, it's a Sports Car so it's not going to be as roomy as a Caddy. You need some seat time to be sure you like the fit.
Worst is targa top, better is Z06 HT, Best is the vert. I am 6'3" and 230#
In targa hit my head on bumps. Z06 a little better but most headroom in the vert. Legroom is is fine in the vert also. Have seat all the way down, pull lever and let back go all the way back, then run seat all the way back in the track.
Sat in C6s and they seem more cramped even the vert. BIGHAN
I am 6'-0" - 270-lbs and I have plenty of room - driven my 2001 coupe every day for 11+ years. Depends on your frame and where the weight is distributed. Most people guess that I weigh about 220-lbs. Just have to come up with a technique for getting in and out of the car that won't damage the interior. I do sometimes hit my head on the halo when I hit a bump, but I have the seat all the way back.
I'm 6'4" and I have plenty of leg room and it's plenty comfortable. The only thing I wish I had was a telescoping wheel because I prefer to have the wheel tilted all the way down. My legs are too long to do it, though, so I have to have it up one click from the bottom.
