Default Looking for a new motor

I'm wanting to go bigger with the cubes. I have been contemplating a turbo/sc setup but I haven't ruled out a bigger displacement setup either. I'm not going to do another forged 347, looking to maybe a 402. Best place to look into getting a longblock? I'm open to different ideas as well.

Do both...drop in an LS9. In all seriousness, an LS3 swap is pretty straightforward these days.

It will be a weekend track car but driven often. A powerful full weight street car. Looking around 550-600. I'm thinking a twin turbo or single turbo might be better at this point but not sure.

Why not just stroke out your current block to a 402? With the right head/cam package and a fast 102 you should get near your goal.

I had a cammed 346 430 rwhp, then a head and cammed 402 503 rwhp, and now have a cammed 416 ls3 495 rwhp. Bigger cubes is always better, and later you can always turbo/sc it. IMHO.

Well....kind of sounds like you have a power adder in mind. But with your requested 550-600 hp.....it almost wouldn't be worth the trouble of all the plumbing/heat shielding/fuel system..ect. Maybe if you were after 800+hp then.....

A 414" LS3 headed setup. Let Darin Morgan CNC them @ R & H in Arlington, TX. Darin is one of the best in the country and the numbers these heads are making is unreal (they are very, very affordable) !!

A 414" with the Darin worked LS3 and a healthy cam would be in the 680-720 hp range. So we are talking 615-630rwhp. Then hide you a little direct port inside the 102 for those nights at the track.

There is more detail to the build...but didnt want to bore you with the numbers.

Here are the heads I'm referring to...http://www.rehermorrison.com/rmSale3.htm

Thanks....and good luck with your build.

Default turbo

sts turbo systems makes a really neat rear mounted turbos system for the car but can get expensive? not the listed price after you fine tune it, but will let you make big hp numbers

How much are the above states setups in a ballpark? I can't see them being cheaper than an FI setup.

Well.....there are so many options. It is hard to nail it down without your choices being figured in.

Here is one example......just hard parts.....
$200-$400~(used)LS iron block (LQ4/9) 4.0" standard bore punched to either .030" (408") or .060" (414")
$1900~SDPC 408"/414" rotating assembly kit
$500~(used)LS3 cylinder heads
$800~Reher & Morrison CNC program
$450~(used)Ported LS3 manifold
$150~(used) "ported" LS3 throttle body
$700~ custom ground cam & springs and retainers
$120~pushrods
$240~caddy "race" lifters
$160~(used)LS3 rockers
$120~trunnion upgrade

~Grand total of $3540~

This list excludes.......
machining, gaskets, fluids, sensors, accessories, tuning ect.....

I'm sure I forgot something....but this is what I came up with in the ten minutes I was in front of the computer.

This motor could always be boosted later for some very serious power.

I would like to hear your plans of your $$ idea of a FI setup.

Thanks.....and good luck with your project. Here is a link to a thread I started about these heads.....http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...the-house.html

Ive been looking at Katech's "budget 427" long block. Its basically an LS3 block with a 4.100 crank, giving you 427 cubes. Comes with worked LS3 heads. Keep in mind, "budget" is all relative....they make fantastic stuff, but its not cheap.

IMHO....SDPC offers some of the best parts in there short/long blocks and they are by far the most economical.

Example.....
383"~$3,500
414"~$4,300
427"~$4,600
440"~$6,000

................with tons of options.
