On finding a shift **** I want. I've searched threads for weeks, I've searched ebay for weeks, I've searched local vendors forever, and I can't find one I think is worthy.
I like the old school hurst, but I'm not sold they fit well with a modern vette. I've looked at all the other ball shaped ones, I've looked at chrome, I've looked at aluminum, I've looked at everything that states it's for a C5 vette.
At the end of the day I think my stocker fits my theme better. I am open to opinions so here's my interior. I recently put a cyberdine style emblem on the steering wheel, is the only difference in the pics.
What do you think? Suggestions, comments, smart remarks?

I use the stock **** in my black car - it's been redone by Vette Essentials. In my Pace Car, also a stock ****. I think the whole thing with replacing the stock **** is a little over played.
As soon as I bought my 01 I knew the stock **** had to go. I knew exactly what I wanted--Black Hurst ball w/ white pattern and Hurst on either side. With the black interior it looks great and I love the feel. I too am old school. but the Hurst seems timeless.

I've got the big ol' tennis ball-sized Hurst in mine. I love how it looks and it seems like the perfect size. When I drive my Nissan the shift **** seems small and inconsequential.
Simply by looking at your interior I think either a white ball shifter or one of those slimmer delrin shaft type ones would look best. I think I saw one of those in the FS forum recently. If you care about the feel, I say pick up a C6 shifter/box.
This might look good, it a brand new Momo shift **** I bought to use in my car and then changed my mind. They sell on eBay for $90 shipped (search for MOMO CTERED) I'll sell it for $70 shipped paypal.
I had this one made for me at EPCO. I asked them to recess the mount and also cut 3/4" off my stock C5Z shifter shaft. Now I have a short shifter and really comfortable shift ****. I went with the ball style after seeing Mr. Bill's at another forum and he said it doesn't get hot while driving. He was right. Thanks Mr. Bill.....
Thanks for the suggestions. Your ***** all look good on your car. I'm sure I'm making this harder than it needs to be but I don't want to make a wrong decision like I did on my wheelskins steering wheel cover. I ask for red thread to accent the other red in the car. When I got it, it was more burgandy, so I have to either lose the cover, find some "red" thread, or just go with black. I put a 3D emblem on the steering wheel so it brings all my colors, to include the speedway design, to the steering wheel.
I do like the C6 ***** but IMO they are a tad overpriced for me. But I'm not going to totally discard that option either. But I also want to upgrade my speakers this spring as well so I'm trying to get the most bang for my buck on the ****.
I actually looked at a MOMO **** like the one ljthe2nd posted but was concerned about the red matching. Oh well, I've been looking for a year, I guess I'll make my decision by spring. I don't mind the stock one so much but IMO it looks stock and that's what I'm trying to change up. I may just buy a couple and change them up on occasion. I'm doing that with the wraps I have in the car, as I have both Red and speedway. My first choice has always been a leather wrapped old school T Handle w/red stitching, but of course can't find one.
