I have wanted a Corvette since my 7th grade science teacher, Randal Barnheart brought his 1963 white roadster to school. I was 13 than and have loved Vettes every since. Sooooo, this past January 24 I turned 62 and found a 2003 Z06 with 20,000 miles on it. Very clean and at a good price. I had drive to Grass Valley, CA to pick it up and upon driving into the driveway, there it sat. Love at first sight. Here are some of the first pictures.
Thank you all for your great responses. If I could send you guys my feelings in a can, when you opened it, it would be a natural high. It is a Calloway Honker with a F.A.S.T. manifold. He shaved the logo off because of California smog idiots. I had it smogged before I got the title and it passed with no problems. As far as the L6 logo on the engine, I have no clue. You guys with knowledge can fill me in. The tires have 5000 miles on them and are what he picked as the best for the car. Sitting next to the Z in his garage was a top fuel dragster. He does know his **** when it comes to performance. The tires are Firestone Fire Hawks 265 40R 17 Wide Oval. Here are some extra pictures the previous owner sent me from the Craigs List listing.
BTW....I brought the car out of the hole the first day I had it and it was all I could do to keep it straight. S.O.B. I had a friend in the late 60's with a 67 L88 435hp Vette. This 03 reminds me of that car. It was dyno'ed at 455hp. In the future, I would be interested in adding a little hp, but I realize it really does not need it.

Congrats! Have the same car. That's the pain with CA...the Smog BS here. Most likely have a ported TB to go with the Callaway and Fast. The LS6 TB plate can be purchased on Ebay. Given that the original owner is a gear head, he most likely had LT headers on the car and then reinstalled the factory manifolds to sell the car. I doubt if he went the sleeper route and did a port match/polish job on the exhaust manifolds...lots of work for little reward. You can always look into a used set of B&B shorty headers to get some slightly better flow (CARB legal), or even bootleg some used LS7 manifolds/h-pipe on the car. The LS7 route would be another one of those "under the radar" mods like the Fast, where it's technically not legal, but will pass the sniffer test.

Of course you'd smoke the old 427/435 anywhere except on an auction block. The old 427 dynoed at around 290whp stock. You're probably around 380 whp with your setup. Get used to that power before you increase it. Those tires will wear out quick too!
