I owned a 2002 Corvette C5 & as you know, the valve covers and numerous other items are made of plastic. Does anyone know a product i can buy that would help me spruce up the looks of these parts? Armorall and stuff like that unfortunately is close to junk. I am looking for a nice polish dressing, My auto body man says the best way to do this is to take the parts off and let him re-spray them. Obviously, he is looking to make a bigger buck than i really need to spend. These plastic parts look nice right now but i just want to keep them up and looking well. Any help with a product you may be aware of for this purpose [especially for plastics near the engine] would be appreciated. Just as a give back I have found after 40+ years of waxing my cars that the best product I have found is Mothers' SynWax, which is a synthetic polymer. You might want to give it a try. It is available online but very difficult to find in auto parts stores. Just an idea for your possible use. Thanks, Norris Gaynor
I am a big advocate for a product called "Plexus"which is a plastic cleaner, protectant and polish all in one. Originally developed for the large and expensive canopy for th B-2 bomber, I have found it works wonders on the plastic and metal on my motocycles and for everything under the hood of my Vette. Works nice, cleans and protects but doesn't leave a greasy shine. Can get at most motorcycle shops or online. Trust me, it works great
Yea I use soap and water and wipe the easy parts down and I also use a product from Adams called "in and out" for the spots that are hard to get a rag into I don't treat it with anything ....it just attracts more dust with those polish types ya know
Asked O'Reilly's today, not in their system. They are having a great sale on Mobil 1 for a day or two longer. Under $6 per quart.
I use to use "PLEXUS" that I would get from the motorcycle shop, it was originally made for air planes and boat applications, cleaner and wax for plastic all in one product. Great Stuff.
