What did the price run you for the repair?

You can fix that yourself. I did it on mine. Just pull the cover off and re-sew the area from the backside using heavy duty thread. If you don't know how to sew at all, then maybe you can ask the wife or girlfriend to give you a hand.

That looks more like a tear than a seam separation.
Getting the vinyl replacement to match exactly is what's going to be a b---h. IMHO, your piece cannot be resown since it's not just a thread that has come loose, but the vinyl is tearing.

I guess it is more of a tear than just the seam pulling away, I'll have a local auto upholsterer take a look and see if it's fixable for the long term, thanks guys.

Good advice to have an upholstery shop take a look at it. Hope they can fix it without too much expense.

It doesn't look like a seam repair. Any good shop can fill it with leather fill and spray die it over. Not like factory but almost invisiable.

Had an upholstery guy look at the seat yesterday, said it will be an easy fix at a cost around 50 bucks. One question, whats the best way to remove the back seat cover, lots of info on removing covers from base c5 seats with the halo, but nothing on the z06 seats.

Good instructions here on the sport seats. Are not the Z06 the same?

http://www.vetteessentials.com/instr...er_change.html

Sorry, I just looked at the pic again and see they aren't the sport seat.

If I could ask...does your guy intend to replace that section? Mine has a wear hole and I was thinking have that piece of vinyl replaced. So I was curious if it is an easily matched material? I talked to one guy, that did my brit car seats, but he said he would have to see it and he's over an hour away.

the Z06 seats are alot different, the removal of the seat from the car is the same but the cover removal is different.

the upholstery guy said that he would have no problem sewing it back up the way it is then place something on the back of the seam to help support it from not pulling apart again.

This is pretty common on the Z06 seats. Mine has just started to split. Should probably get it fixed before it becomes a major issue.

As I stated previously, you can still repair it yourself. Mine looked exactly like that. I resewed the seam from the backside by taking up more of the seam material. I then used black shoe polish as a finishing touch to hide any imperfection. The seam is just a little off but you can't see it unless you're a foot away and staring right at it. Worked for me and I now have a much stronger seam.
