On ebay I see a lot of tuner chips for around $25 or so. They guarantee
to see increases of 30-35 HP. Are any of these any good and do what they say. If so does anybody buy them and are they any good. Just curious to see what you guys know about them. I put this in the Tech forum but got zero response. Thought I'd try here.

Complete garbage. Don't trust something like that. Back in the 80's they used to do the "chip" thing. These days take your car to a Corvette tuner and ask for a full dyno tune. It usually will cost you $400-500 for a full tune. They plug there lap top directly into your car's computer. Run it on the dyno and dial in various aspects of your car's tune. Air/Fual Ratio... shift points on auto's... cags defeat... etc..etc...
I however would not bother with a dyno tune until you add performance parts to your car. Like Long tube headers, air intake, cam ...etc....etc... Its just not worth the high $$ for a tune on a stock car.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the facts on these tuners. I do in fact know all about having the tune done the right way, and am having one done after a few more mods. I was just wondering what the story was on these miracle gadgets. I loved the first two words in your reply....right to the point. Have a great weekend. Trainor
