I average 30-32mpg going 75mph with the cruse on in mine with long tube headers, and a K&N cold air intake, average 24 in the citys most often. oh its a 6 speed though..might make a difference.

Sounds about right. I got 29 once on a 8 hr trip with the headlights down. With them up I got 1-2 less.

Default Fuel Mileage

Try finding a station that carries non-ethanol premium. It takes about two tanks and your mileage will run abouut 3 to 4 mpg better. I took a 2800 mile road trip this spring and averaged 26.5 mpg. Flat lands, mountains driving, and city driving, with speeds up to 85mph. Used four different brands of fuel. Chevron, Texaco, Costco, and Sinclair. Chevron being the best, with Texaco being the worst.

Even a small cam is going to affect your mileage more than any other mod. Bigger the cam, greater the impact. They hold the intake valve open longer to pull in more air and fuel. That's what they're for.

What rear axle do you have? I have the "performance" 3.15 in my 2001 A4. The best MPG average I've seen on long freeway cruises is 25 mpg.
