EBCMs from 97-00 are no longer available(unless you can find a used one) and cannot be repaired if it has a bad one.
Also the TPMS is a little more expensive to replace than the later models (2001 and up) if it is also bad.
Other than that, just look at the normal things that you would give attention to on any car of that age and caliper. If it is from a private seller, ask for maintenance records. Most people who take extreme care of there vehicles will have these.
Also, early fuel pumps can be noisy. You may hear a buzzing behind the driver's seat where it's located. It's not a sign that it will fail, it's just more of an annoyance than anything.
Everything else I can think of is just standard C5 stuff.

There are some problems that were common to all years of the C5 - If you'd like a copy of some Word files I have that lists the issues, as well as a Corvette Buyers Checklist, PM me your e-mail address.
I,ve owned my 97 since June of 04. Its been a great car. Ive replaced
vacuum lines under battery, brake pads, battery ,hvac head,a/c
compressor, belts, tensioners, radiator and coolant overflow tank in
eight years and 36000 miles. During my visit to the corvette factory and tour I spoke to a couple of the assembly crew and they they stated
that the 97 c5 was a slow and well supervised build and it shows.
I will keep it even if I can buy a new z06 It stays too!!!!!!
