Default Sun Visor Repair question

Alright so I have some floppy ears on my sun visors.
I would like to completely redo the sun visors but with something stronger like a sheet of aluminum covered with a thin layer of foam and wrapped in suede.
I've been looking for posts of someone who may have done something similar but I can find anything.

CF vendor marc@vettenuts caries stock looking aftermarket visors. Not sure the material inside but it's much better than the GM cardboard. Purchased a set myself and love em.

I had mine covered in leather by Vette Essentials when I had the rest of the interior done.

I'm sure the vendors here carry good products, but I'd really like to make this a DIY. I'm going to buying a bunch of alcantara anyways so why not try to do it my self.
If there is anyone that has done this them selves I would appreciate any tips or tricks.

I've got a set of Marc's visors. Better than OEM FWIW.

Good luck. Perhaps add a Homelink while you have the guts out. I would measure the OEM cardboard and replace it with lightweight aluminum or some other harder material.

That's a good point I'll have to look into adding the home link.
