I am preparing to have a Caravaggio rear spoiler prepped, painted and installed by a local body shop.
I also want to haves lower rear fascia painted black. However, since I have a Medium Spiral Gray Metallic C5, I was wondering whether a clear coat solid black would be the right choice of paint or whether I should try to match up a black metallic flake?
I think the black flake might work well and be a little different than everyone else. Make sure post up some pictures when it is done.
By the way we (Bay Area Corvette Club) is hosting a Corvette show on May 14th at the Courtside Grill in St. Pete. Good time for you to come on up this way and we can finally meet.

If you want to go with a black color, I think the one with the metallic flake would look very good with your car. Perhaps even a color like the new Centennial Edition C6 has on it.

Thanks for the offer. I am a member of The Skyway club and we have our St. Armand's circle show the same month.
Unfortunately, I have been driving so much during the week on business, I haven't been participating in too many shows or runs lately. I need to change that.

Thanks. I think it is the same paint that is used on the Cadillac CTS. Black Diamond Tricoat. However, I think the challenge is matching up the flake size. Plus many "black" paints have a tint of color at certain angles so I want to get it right. Also thinking about the lower front fascia.

Were you at the bowling event last weekend?
i plan on being at the St Armand show as it is the week before our show. The Courtside is a much smaller low keyed event compared to our big show in Oct.

I didn't make the bowling event. I've been more of a silent member this year due to the career demands. I'm hoping to have the planned mods completed by mid summer. However this paint project is taking way too long. The recession must not be effecting the body shop/auto painting industry because getting an answer out of these guys is taking forever. I approached one shop (recommended by another Corvette club member) the first week in December. He was supposed to provide me some requested paint samples. Still waiting...
I hate working this hard to buy a service from someone else!
Most of examples I've seen of the black lower fascias are on Torch Red, Millenium Yellow or Artic White C5s. They all look great, however since I have the metallic paint, I wonder if a clearcoat, non-metallic black would look good or not.
