The 2 bucket wash is definitely the way to go if your car is really dirty. Though the way I do it is to use one bucket to wash the top half of the car, and 1 to wash the bottom half of the car. I also make sure that both buckets have a grit guard. I rinse with a spray of the hose nozzle, then I actually run the hose just running water over the car with no nozzle to "sheet" the water off. It makes dying much easier and faster.

Yeah, i took all my car wash stuff and two buckets to our complex's car wash area, which is just a coin operated spray nozzle, with no timer. 1.50 gets you 5 minutes of water. So i rinsed every thing off real good, used one bucket to scrub the crap outta the front and mirrors to get the bugs off from the drive back from the dealership, used the other bucket for the rest of the car. Had to literally RUN to do the whole back half of the car, cuz the way the wash is facing, it was baking in the sun, didnt want the soap to get all dried. Then another 1.50 to rinse it all again, was gonna use the foam brush to scrub the wheels real good before detailing them, but i only had 19 seconds left on my watch.

The back half still had dried crap on it, and i was gettin pissed because the car wash is tiny and it SUCKS, would be nice if there was a DAMN hose to use, so i took it thru the touch free car wash to see what it would do. just did the cheap one, presoak, wash, rinse, ddry. none of this foam crap or tri color crap or that nonsense. came out looking real good, coulda dried the back better. so im just gonna have to find some of that waterless wash or whatever to use after i give it a real bath to smooth everything out..

is that shorty antenna still motorized? is there anything we can put on there like cars these days? or heck, even my other car thats older, its a 2001. no visible antenna, but perfect reception. i dont want an antenna sticking up..

There was a thread on adding a motorized antennae recently. I didn't follow so I am not sure what it takes. Do a quick search and I bet you can find it.

What ever you do don't scrub as hard as I did on mines, now I have to put the blue back on it someway somehow.

Got mines used and the original owner used it as a DD here in southern Louisiana and failed to removed the love bugs in the summer. So it had a bad case of rash on the front and I just couldn't stand the look of pecks in the paint.

what an idiot. if i keep my other car i might not even drive this one when those damn bugs are all over.... if i can manage the self control to stay away from such an awesome machine parked in my garage... haha.

on another note, someone mentioned the shorty antenna, since mine is bent and doesnt go up and down all the way sometimes, i should probably replace it, i found this link: http://www.pfyc.com/VT1079.html

i must be missing something, because with a retractable antenna and motor, how can you just "screw on" that one. plus, thats still damn near 10" tall. thats just toooooooo tall. i want one that is like maybe 2". my radio reception is just fine before it puts up the antenna. anyone ever seen a real short one?

Z06 comes with a fixed/non-retractable antenna. And yes you can find a short screw in unit. Mines is a bit longer at around 10".

Was never an option! I also have a power antenna, the ones that came on Verts.

So is that something that is different on the Z16? The '04 Z06? Or what? Or did all the Z06s come that way? I thought they came with a fixed antenna.

No, the power antennas were never an option as I said. I ordered the one that was available on the Verts, and installed on my car.

Congrats on the Z16.

Antenna is definitely fixed on all Z06s. If yours is power, it was added.

OK!! so just to make sure i am reading all these posts right... a z06 NEVER came with a power retracting antenna from the factory. so mine was added afterwards. not sure why they woulda done that... so, i am guessing i will have to take out the whole motor and antenna, and hopefully there is somethin left for the regular antenna to screw into? anyone have this antenna? http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-z...ltra-cool.html or does it look too ridicoulous? i dont think it looks that bad, but theres been enough posts of reception lost, so im starting to doubt. i just dont want a flag pole on the car..
