Situation- driving the car (99 coupe) about 7 minutes, 35mph, weather around 50 degrees with the rear defroster on. rear window suddenly shatters.
i have searched on here and found other similar circumstances. what i have not found is any information for the electrical connections for defrost.
Safelite came out today with new glass but noticed that my window had 3 electrical connections, while theirs only had two. both windows had connections near the struts. mine however also had one at the center close to the halo. it looks 99% identical to the other two connectors in physical appearance. key feature is the pigtail that originates from the halo is coiled tightly like an old phone cord. the safelite guy assumed it may be a radio connection so i disconnected that, tested the radio, which still worked fine. i believe it to be a third defrost connection.
would greatly appreciate any experience on window replacement and this electrical connection issue or someone simply nice enough to verify if their 99 coupe has two or three connections.

It seams to me that 2 are for the defrost and the 3rd is for the radio antenna. The coupe I believe has an antenna in the front window and the rear glass.

Mine shattered the same way last year while driving 35 mph. 97 through I think 2000 has the third connection. The first window did not have the connection. They ordered another from Detroit and it was received in a million pieces. Third was a charm but the rubber seal was damaged while removing the remaining glass. Took two times to get one to fit OK. Took about a month to get it completed. Seemed like a bad dream.

just wanted to bump and say that dgrant3830 is a hell of a good man to offer his windshield. Was fortunate to meet up with him immediately and have my car back on the road.

The 3rd coiled connection at the top is definitely for the radio. If you were to pull down the interior roof panel you would see a coax connector from the radio going into a junction box and that coiled wire coming out the back to the rear window.
