take off the door panel and at the bottom of the door (on the side facing you) there is an adjustment screw that will pull the top of the window in....
Thanks but do i have to take the whole panel off i remember i saw like a small door that you can remove at the bottom of the door
There's one on the bottom of the door that adjusts the tip in. That one doesn't require removing the panel, but not sure if that is going to solve your problem. Do a search for "window adjustment" and you'll find all of the info you need.
Not sure all vettes are that way, but every one I drove when I was shoping had rattling windows when they are down. Mine doesn't rattle when driving, just when you shut the door. I haven't figured out how to fix it as yet. Not even shure they can be fixed, as there are no tracks in the doors like other cars I have had. I did a search last year when I bought mine, but couldn't find the fix.
I also had that problem. Behind I think the reflector on the door panel is a nut that comes loose. It is for adjusting window tilt. I hope that's it because it's a real easy fix.

The problem with the window rattling when you close the door and the window was down is there is supposed to be a felt pad on the front of both pulley wheels. The reason I didn’t see it was because they were both missing. I removed the passenger door panel which wasn't rattling and lo and behold there they were. I went to Ace Hardware and bought felt pads for the bottom of furniture and stuck them on using the self-adhesive supplied and problem solved. This is a simple fix when you get the door panel off. The pulleys are right at the top of the door and can be easily seen with the window down.
When you shut the door, the window makes a terrible rattling noise. The only way to tell if this is your problem is to take the door panel off and look and see if the felt is missing if it is this is part if not all of your problem.
The felt that you need are the 1/2 round that you would use on the bottom legs of furniture not to scratch the floor. You can buy these in any Home Depot or Lowe’s in the hardware section. Once you remove the door panel and locate the pulley wheels you will figure it out.

vetteman, thanks for posting that. I didn't see that when I was doing my search. I'm going to be pulling my panels this weekend to see if I can fix mine. I thought that that was just the way they are, because everyone I drove had rattling windows when they were down.

I had the same exact problem as you and the felt pads solved it. Now when I close the doors with the windows down it's nice and solid. Before the felt pad it sounded like the door on my old 71 Javelin.
