After reading about the blown shock after lifting, I think I would like too replace the shocks on my car. Seems like not much support when I hit a rough spot.
You guys are talking about replacing with C6 shocks? What do I get?And where is a good place to get them? I don't do the work myself, so would have to find a place to have them put on as well. Most important issue is replacing them with a quality shock at this point. Thanks.

George,
There are tons of options.
A good street shock is the Johnny O'Connell Shocks by Pdadt.

Gene at GMpartshouse.com will be able to get you exactly what you need. the C6Z shocks they are talking about will run you about 250 bucks and honestly can be swapped out in 1 hour for all 4 unless you just cannot do it yourself. If you have the magnetic ride control shocks F45, i believe, you will need simulators to make the computer think you still have them installed or you will get trouble codes. Those shocks are very expensive to get.
Thanks Chip. All I want is a good quality replacement for highway driving. Car is a 2001 with 40k, and seems like not much support when I hit a rough spot as noted before.
Many options and opinions. C6 Z06 shocks, Bilstein HD shocks, Pfadt shocks and Koni shocks appear to be the most common choices for the C5 (and that doesn't even count coil overs). It all depends on your goals and budget.

The Johhny O'Connell shocks are a very good street shock, not to stiff
and not to soft.
The FSD are a bit more performance feel.
Remember, you will need to find a set of shock sims if you are replacing F45's

Then this being a Mod, someone mention computer changes also? Are the cost of this worth it from the GM shocks for a street car that very seldom gets over the speed limit?

I just ordered a set of the Pfadt Johnny O'Connell shocks for my black car. I have Bilstein Sports on there now, and I'm ready for a change.
I spoke with Jarrett at Pfadt for a bit, and based on my needs (convertible - no track usage, lowered on stock bolts) - he felt that the J.O. shocks would be the best choice.
