Default ECS Stage 1 Package for C5

I was looking at the ECS Stage 1 Package that include the following:

160 degree thermostat
Vararam intake
Dyno Tuning
Instalation

Cost: $999

Has anyone out there done this or have an opinion? They say that it will give and extra 15-20 RWHP conservitavly.

I used my car for a while with vararam and corsa catback untuned. I didn't get a tune because I knew I was going to do more work to my car and would just get a tune then. I wouldn't do this stage 1 package if you gonna do headers or something later on I would wait and do like intake headers and tune unless if you gonna keep it a long time with intake and tune only.

We do rate them at real conservative numbers, however, most of these packages make 20-25rwhp additional (30-35bhp).

I had ECS install Vararam, AR Headers, x-pipe and TI catback and dyno tune my old coupe. The difference was pretty amazing over stock.

It's probably best to consider your goals first before spending the money. Give ECS a call and they can help you figure out what you want to do...they are good guys.

I had ECS do this package for me last year at Carlisle. Keep in mind that I already had Corsa Pace Car (Sport) exhaust installed, so take that for what it's worth. My C5 dyno'd 323rwhp and 340ft/lb torque. I did not have a baseline dyno. Doug said this is what he typically sees. It's a nice starter package for those on a budget. Hope this helps!

At the vette show in Carlisle, there was a small special on it. Maybe $30-$40 off if I remember correctly.

I have the Stage 1 Package on my 04 Vert. I had Borlas on already. I also had the A.R. Headers installed with the Stage 1. I love the end result! I noticed the change as soon as I left E.C.S. My father has a 99 vert and we were always pretty much even. Now mine pulls away easily (I do have the headers though). Best money I have spent so far. Keep debating on the cam now but the car as it is now is drivable and a lot of fun.

Don't waste your time with minimal mods. Just go all out and do the supercharger kit.

Doug and the guys at ECS also did the stage 1 on my 00 coupe last year at Carlisle, minus the 160 degree stat, and i would definately reccomend it. I did notice a big difference and i did not have a baseline as well, but it dynoed at 332 rhp and 342 ft lb, and i did already have catbacks with B&B bullets. Great guys. Ken
