Default Thermostat Questions

I have a 2004 Z06 with a LS6. The reading on my temp. gauge is 200-210. I get some heat in the driver's area. I live in SW. Florida. How can you tell if you should replace with a 160 degree therm. Any ideas on the type or where from. I'm a newbie to all of this so I've looked at Corvette Central and Ecklers but they are greek to me. HELP!!

A 160 degree thermostat is typically recommended for some type of race application. Unless you do track days or repeat drag runs there is no need IMO. Driving around the street those temps are perfectly normal from what I've seen driving around FL. I live in Ocala.

I would clean out the front area in front of the radiator. It usually gets congested dirt, leaves, paper, plastic, etc. Power spray from engine side out. Afterwards take it for a ride, its probably going to run cooler.

160* t-stat by itself won't do much anyways...you'll need a tuner (or self tuner) to adjust the fan settings to work with it.
