Need New Air Intake
Everyone on this site seems to love the VaraRam Intake. Is it a big diference when your not racing around? Whats the REAL Mpg difference? And Approximately how much more Horsepower do you get? Pics would also be nice to see if you happen to have some laying around guys. Much Appreciation

From what I have read they are probably the #1 intake got a true CAI. I don't have one because the intake openings are located at the fog like openings and here in this part of Florida I am concerned with the heavy summer thunderstorms we get and how many of the roads flood. I don't want to take the chance of sucking in a lot of water and I have heard of this happening.

Not a fan of the Vararam, For what it costs the quality isn't there and also I would be concerened with the water issue, Do a search, There have been a few posts about hydrolocking your motor. Not good, I would rather not take the chance.
Mr.Bill
I run a Halltech intake with a Tunnel Port.

I'm running the Blackwing right now and like it - but if you want the max HP from a new air intake, the Vararam is the way to go. From what I've read, the problem with it is the fit and finish - some have had a real time trying to get everything to line up correctly.

My 02 C5 had a the Vararam on it when I bought it. My car is my has been my daily driver going on five years now. I drive in heavy rain when I have to and I've not had a single problem with anything. I would not suggest driving through a puddle that you don't know the depth of obviously but so far no issues what so ever. I did install a set of the Z06 screens becuse I have found small pieces of paper, twigs and pieces of tree leafs in the filter box when I clean the filter but nothing ever got passed the filter.
As far as performance, I have driven C5's with out the Vararam and you can tell a difference, not so much off the line but once you hit 60-70 mph and put you foot into it you can. Vararam has documentation of the results you can get with their intake, something like a few tenths quicker 0-60 and a few tenths quicker in the 1/4. All I know is I got to run my C5 around Talladega Super Speedway. The car took off like a rocket coming out off turn 2 and onto the backstrech you could hear the Vararam sucking in the air as it accelerated. I went FAST

i had the K&N syetem with their power duct setup..and i was not overly impressed with it..and like many i read that the vararam was the way to go..so i bit the bullet ..called my buddie dennis at ddmods..and got one ordered...and yes the install was a PITA..but once i got it figured out..about 4 hours..or so...and yes i was cleaning everything as i went along..it fit really well..and i think looks amazing in the vette engine bay...i also installed the ACA HID headlights..first time took me 4 1/2 hours..and i just installed them on another club members vette ..02 vert..and it took 2 1/2 hours...
