You've gotten some good advice! Clean, clean and clean. Bring cleaning supplies suggested... a comfy chair, a cooler full, sunscreen, and enjoy the day and the experience. You'll make a lot of new friends and find out what's happening in the local Corvette club.
Follow the advice listed above. You can just do a basic wash/wax and roll it out there, or you can go nuts and clean parts you didn't even know were accessible.
Most importantly, don't stress out over your first show. You said it didn't matter if you brought home a trophy, so shine it up nice, go out and meet a ton of great Vette folks, and figure out if you want to do more shows. If you have a blast and want to do more, make sure you watch all the "car show" guys. You'll easily see them at the show. Just watch what they do/clean and copy them!
Some love shows, some hate shows. Either way, you should have fun getting to know some of your local vette guys better!
make sure that you keep your keys in your pocket, last fall I went to the alpine valley ski area (white lake michigan) and it started to rain right after the judgeing, my windows were down put the keys in to roll up the windows it only rained for a few seconds, got out, locked the car with the keys in the Ignetion, now I keep a spare in my wallet without the chip. (GINO) HAVE FUN, TAKE PIXS AND POST THEM FOR ALL TO ENJOY.
I have been doing shows for over 7 years now and what has been side over and over again, go to have fun and meet people. Also as stated, what type of show is it, a judged show or participant judging.
A judge show has a tendency to be a little better as as far as did the best cars actually win, whereas a participant judged show, is more on who you know.
If this is your first show, I would do a good detail on the car inside and out. this includes the engine bay, wheel wells, barrel of the wheels complete interior. Take a top brand detail spray, some microfiber towels of a good quality. Tire dressing maybe, but if you did a good detail prior to the show, you may only need to touch up the tires when you arrive.
If this is a judged show, once the judging is done approach one of the organizers and tell them this is your first show and you would like to know if you can see your judging sheet after the show, so you know what you need to work on. At some of the shows the judges will even talk with you after they are done and give you some pointers.
The main thing is to go and have fun.
It doesn't say specifically, it does say "No technical judging". The car show is being hosted by a local high school, $15 for pre-registration. The proceeds go towards the senior class of 2012 after prom party (a good alternative from post-prom drugs and alcholol). I think it's a good cause and I'm sure it'll be a good time.
