Default Passing Illinois emissions

I have a c5 z06 with 35xxx miles running strong. I picked up some xspower longtubes and x-pipe and dropped the extra ~175$ for cats thinking I'd be fine. Haven't had to test it yet. Got about a month. Since the upgrade it pops the post cat codes after the cycle (warmup, part throttle ~4k rpm acceleration and lie throttle low rpm highway acceleration).

On past cars (old supras and a trans am) I was able to easily pass the sniffer (should be more of a pita??) with hi flow cats. Now, the hit or miss spark plug anti foulers are not an option with the xspower xpipe. They go over the top. There is no space for an extension. I have the stock manifolds but not the hpipe because I used to be in Hawaii (Marines) and had no way to keep the huge thing when I got out.

Tl dr? Dong buy aftermarket cats. Useless waste of money.

Got any friends that live in a no emissions part of Illinois? LOL I just had to go through this on my Jeep SRT8 with headers and no cats and ended up changing the registration to my girlfriend's parents house which don't have emissions. So just once a year, will have to go get sticker and that's that.

Don't you just have an OBDII test to scan for diagnostic codes? If so, then all you would have to do is have a tuner delete the rear O2 sensors, I believe.

That's all we have in Northwest Indiana is the OBDII check on '96 and newer vehicles. Only '95 and older cars (non OBDII) are hooked up to the "sniffer" and put on the dyno.

Me too. I have lived here off and on for about 15 years and never new.

I lived in Mesa, AZ for quite a while and really hated the emissions testing there.

I'm glad I live in the sticks too.

I think now it is only the OBDII check for codes. A good tuner can get it by. A neighbor used to have a Firebird with no cats at all,,but had his tuned ,,,passed every time!

I've got all the mods listed in my signature and have never had a problem passing Illinois emissions. My problem is that my emission test is due in March and I store my car until the middle of April or so. My license plates also expire in March, which means I can't renew them until after I pass emissions. Since I only put about 700-800 miles a year on my car, I filled out the on-line EPA waiver, mailed it in with required paperwork and have a 2 year exemption on the test.

I heard they're going to be emission testing cows for methane pollution to help generate additional revenue. They should be testing in Springfield because that's where all the a@#holes are.

'95 and older do not need to get emissions tested if they passed their last inspection. Basically one and done.

I have a set of LG Streets I just picked up with high flows and I'm probably going to run rear O2 simulators. For off-road use only, of course... :-)
