This "winter" in Ohio I have had the pleasure of putting on Long Tube headers and getting to do a few pulls to attempt to tune it. While doing so I noticed a sort of "grinding" noise coming from the rear end of the vette. This occurred when turning the steering wheel Counterclockwise while in the throttle, when I would coast and turn it wouldn't make noise and am rather puzzled as to what it could be. The "Active Handling Warm Up" also appears very frequently now, not sure if it is related but want to give as much info as possible. After crawling under the rear end I noticed a decent amount of fluid on the passenger side of the differential...any ideas as to what may be causing these problems? Any ideas on how to solve them?
Sounds like the seal(s) went on your differential, which is a common C5 issue. I suspect the lack of gear oil is causing the rear to be noisy. Hopefully you haven’t damaged the gears.

That very well could be the issue. Might want to get that checked very soon.
Thanks for your responses, I just changed the fluid before Winter started, so if the level changed it would be due to the leak but when sitting in my garage there are no drops/puddles of fluid on the floor, so should I just go ahead and change the seals along with new fluid?
Would a leak like this without pooling be enough to cause there to be so little a fluid that it would make the noises?

You mentioned that you recently changed out the diff fluid.
Did you notice the passenger side of the diff, having fluid on it, at that time?
If there wasn't fluid on it at that time.... Have you recently encountered some wheel hop?
(Thumping of diff on rapid acceleration?)

I do not recall seeing any fluid at that time, but I can't exactly remember as a lot of things have happened in the past few months!
I do however know that under rapid acceleration and turning sometimes I will hear a sort of popping and feel the car sort of lag...if that makes sense. But I am not sure if that is due to the new headers with wacky 02 readings with too much fuel or what...but under any sort of mild load the car doesn't enjoy it.
