Has anyone changed the color of their stock Z wheels other than black or polished? The paint on my fronts have some finish issues and I was contemplating powdercoating them. I'm thinking about a little darker than stock, like a gunmetal maybe. My Z is blk on blk, dark windows and has blackout lenses to give you an idea where I'm coming from. Any pics would be great.
Now he has CCW's....(best looking Z I've seen in a while)
Thanks tlove !
Actually I had them painted at a local wheel shop. They turned out really nice. I however found that the paint chipped from rocks easier than I hoped. If I were to do it again i would powder coat them. I was quoted about $80 per wheel.
The paint that was used on my wheels above was:
PPG paint
1.) Deltron 651 as the base
2.) Deltron 650 as top coat
3.) Then clear coat over that.
I told the guy I just wanted a nice bright Silver paint. A Silver paint that looked OEM.
That looks sharp, thanks for the info. I like the silver on silver look. I'm leaning towards doing the same type of monochromatic look of black and darker wheels. I probably wouldn't change them if it werent for the paint peeling in a few spots. I may try to find a graphite powdercoat color. I was hoping to see it first if someone has done it already.
Yeah I saw a pic a while back with the c6 Z wheels in comp grey. It looked good. I also found this link in the forum. http://www.calchrome.com/service_menu.php
I like the black chrome look, just unsure whether its worth the money to refinish or just put that towards aftermarket rims...
I just saw a white 350Z with wheels that had gold centers and polished hoops. Looked sick.
I was thinking that it migh look nice ony SW Z06.
Any thoughts?

Black chrome would look sa-weeet but I understand that it is softer and not as durable as standard chrome thus scratches / fades prematurely ?
I hadnt heard that, thanks for the info. I think I'll call them today and see what they say. I'm really shocked no one here has gone darker with their stock wheels. I'm kinda stuck though because I've got pretty much new rubber on the stock wheels and if I swapped wheels I would go 18/19.
Thanks for the pic, thats pretty much what I was looking for. Did they ever post pics on the car? I'm also interested if its paint vs. powdercoat.
I think that color would look good yet provide a little contrast.
