With all the questions about tires i've seen on here, i thought i'd give my take on the experience with my Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP (run flat) tires.
I had a flat tonight on one of them on our way to eat out. After limping back home, i dug out the paper work to see when i bought them. I also was curious to see how many miles i had on them.
I bought the tires on 03/05/09. I have put 46500 miles on them. they have been an excellent tire. They handle very good. I have been more than pleased with them.
The one with the flat is a gonner so i'm going to discount tire tomorrow to order a new set. I realize they are a little pricey, but with the performance and mileage i got out of them, i feel they are worth the price.
I hope this helps those looking to buy tires in the future. I don't think you can go wrong with these tires.
I too am suprised at the mileage i got out of my tires. While i don't drive like a wild man, i don't exactly baby the car either. I have always taken exceptional care of anything i own. I waited 30 years to own a corvette and i'm not going to do anything stupid to tear it up or wreck it. I have the need for speed same as anyone else. I just try to do it sparingly.
My odometer is reading miles not kilometers. When i got the tires, the car had 93,000 miles. It now has 139,500 miles.
Michellin puts out a good tire. I just put on a set of the Pilot Super sports. No run flat but wow, this is an amzing tire. I really didnt think they would handle my power in the low gears but wow, I am just sooo impressed and the cornering is amazing. I still had some tread on my old KD tires but they were 7 years old and hard as a rock. I odnt believ in cutting cornesr when iy comes to rubber. Pay whatver you need to pay to get a good tire That suits your needs. Its not worth cutting corners IMO
I had looked at Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP the 220# tread wear scared me away.
understandable, yet individual experiences will show a huge variety of results. I know I would like a higher tw# and lower price when I replace my ps2's.
